Center Housing Authority
This project involved installing thirteen individual solar thermal systems for heating domestic water on low-income (HUD) housing in Center, Colorado. The first system heats domestic water for the administration building, and uses 3 Viessman 200 collectors, a Stiebel-Eltron tank, and a Rinnai instantaneous water heater. Twelve subsequent systems were installed on 2-3 bedroom apartment units and used 2 Viessman collectors, Heat-Flo tanks, and Paloma instantaneous hot water heaters for backup water heating. The systems are designed to keep the instantaneous water heater from running unless there is insufficient heat in the solar tank, thus minimizing utility costs for low-income residents.
